Chesapeake Beach, Maryland

Seeped in history, sunshine, and sugary sand, Chesapeake Beach, Maryland has been delighting visitors since the early 1900s. Today, the train station where inland beachgoers arrived by rail serves as a museum depicting the history of this seaside resort.

Chesapeake Beach Accommodations

You’ll find a variety of accommodations from quaint to luxurious and catering to everyone from families to honeymooners. Check into a charming cottage on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic or a spacious private beach home for large groups. The Rod N Reel is the area’s best-known resort. Located on the waterfront, the hotel offers an array of amenities including a heated indoor pool, casino, a fleet of fishing charter boats, and destination wedding packages. Waterfront campsites are also available near the Breezy Point Marina.

Dining and Shopping

Experience Southern coastal cuisine at one of many neighborhood restaurants incorporating fresh saltwater catches into tempting appetizers such as crab bruschetta and shrimp tempura smothered in a spicy sauce. Non-seafood lovers will find luscious, creative specialty burgers and tangy Maryland pit barbeque. Choose a dockside eatery or head west to the highlands for comfort foods like meatloaf and chicken pot pie dinners.

This quaint Maryland beach bypasses the strip malls and celebrates local owners. Check out the unique shops for sweet and salty kettle corn, a local favorite similar to popcorn but cooked in an oiled cast-iron skillet. On Fridays during the summer, shop for fresh local produce at the farmer’s market or anytime at the local grocery store. A-1 Antiques & Collectibles is located a bit inland and stop by Butterflies & Wishes for specialty teas and food gifts.
